One of the most venerated religious figures in history, Saint Francis of Assisi, was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher, founder of the Franciscan Order. “I advise, warn and exhort my brothers in the Lord Jesus Christ, that, when they go into the world, they shall not quarrel, nor contend with words, nor judge others. But they shall be gentle, peaceable and modest, merciful and humble, honestly speaking with all, as is becoming.” For the Lord saith: “Love you enemies, and pray for those that persecute you and speak evil against you; Blessed are they that suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake.”
