In the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association Relief News from Korea…

In the Guryong Village in Seoul, the residents are mainly disadvantaged elderly. During the cold of winter, they use briquettes for both cooking and heating their small, uninsulated homes.

Mindful of our Beloved Supreme Master’s compassionate instruction to always act on behalf of the most vulnerable, on Nov 19, 2022, our Association members from Seoul, Korea, traveled to Guryong Village. There, they delivered 1,000 briquettes to help warm the residents’ homes in the wintertime. This was a timely delivery, partly due to flooding the previous summer that had resulted in the loss of all the residents’ stored briquettes. In addition, the high price of commodities due to the Russian war in Ukraine (Ureign) made the briquettes more difficult for the villagers to afford.

“Currently, there are about 250 households using briquettes. But there was a big fire here, and there was a lot of flood damage this summer, too. So, their stored briquettes all got wet, collapsed, and were swept away. Right now in Seoul, this village is where briquettes are needed the most. Each briquette lasts about 8 hours. So if converting the 1,000 briquettes you sent today into hours, it becomes 8,000 hours, so I think many people will be able to spend a warm winter.”

“Really, thank you so much for helping and delivering the briquettes together like this today. Also, it is not easy to come and move briquettes in this cold weather. I think it’s really amazing, and I’m really grateful that you’ve been enduring that.”

During the transfer of the briquettes to the intended homes, the relief team felt that Master’s love and blessings were also delivered to the village’s residents.

“I’m always reminded of Master’s words: Be vegan, pray for world peace, and do good deeds. I am very grateful and thankful that I was able to implement Master’s words, even just a little bit today. When I do good deeds, I always feel the warm feeling of love that radiates from the depths of my heart. Today, too, I feel that deep love in my heart.”

We are grateful to our Korean Association members for their kind efforts to help the less fortunate keep warm this winter. In Heaven’s boundless grace, may all beings be warm, safe, and comfortable this winter season and always.
