In an open letter acknowledging their privileged position and debt to coronavirus frontline workers, they state, “Our interconnectedness has never been more clear. Drone mimicking one of world’s fastest bird species developed.
Dr. Yao-Wei Chin, and co-researchers from the National University of Singapore, collaborated with aerospace engineers from Taiwan, also known as Formosa, China, and Australia to develop a flapping wing drone that copies the swift, a fast-flying, agile bird. Mirroring the bird in shape and size, the ornithopter can hover on low power, glide, dive, climb, and stop quickly after rapid movement. Given the wing design, the device has potential for performing delicate jobs such as pollination in indoor vertical farms or keeping birds a safe distance from airports. The research project was published in the Science Robotics journal. Israeli scientists discover carbon-sharing network between trees.
Researchers at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science have found complex systems of fungi joining various tree species’ roots together. Using advanced sequencing techniques and underground devices to analyze more than 1,000 tree root tips of four tree species, the scientists learned that the networks exchange minerals, nutrients, water, and carbon between the trees, while channeling carbon to the fungi in return. This cooperation between trees, featuring resource-sharing facilitated by the fungi, could result in more resilient forests that can better handle adverse conditions such as drought, fire, or disease. Wow, great work Weizmann Institute scientists, for this truly amazing discovery of the unconditional bond between different kinds of trees who serve each other for their combined well-being. Yacht racer to track microplastics in oceans.
In November 2020, French journalist and sailor Fabrice Amedeo will participate in the Vendée Globe, a round-the-world solo yacht race, where he will take ocean water samples for microplastic contamination testing. His vessel will be fitted with three filters of 300, 100, and 30 microns, which will have water pumped through them to trap microplastics. The devices will be changed every 12 hours, and analyzed when Mr. Amedeo returns after approximately 85 days. They will give valuable insight into the extent of plastic pollution in vast swathes of the oceans that have not yet been tested. Canada-based Chef Hidekazu Tojo, inventor of the popular California Roll-style sushi, has given his stamp of approval to the Wagyu Plant-Based Teriyaki Strips – a new meat analog developed by Canadian food manufacturer Top Tier Foods in collaboration with Japanese partners. Among the first to sample the new plant protein, Chef Tojo said, “My first impression was this was real wagyu beef. It was incredibly tender… and seasoned very well. I am very impressed. It’s very close, it’s very difficult to tell the difference.” A soy-based alternative that lives up to gourmet standards, the vegan wagyu is now available at restaurants in Japan. Wales bans wild animal use by traveling circuses.
The Welsh Parliament has joined 46 other countries, including England and Scotland, in prohibiting wild animals, such as elephants, lions, tigers and bears, in circus performances. Effective December 1, 2020, the Wild Animals and Circuses (Wales) Act states offenders can face unlimited fines. The historic new bill was unanimously passed after a public consultation on the draft Bill indicated 97% of the 6,500 respondents supported the legislation. The Honorable Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs, highlighted that “wild animals are sentient beings with complex needs,” and said the new legislation represents a “significant step forwards for wild animals in Wales and beyond.” Our respectful salute, the Honorable Lesley Griffiths and all Welsh Parliament members for advancing animal rights. Dear Supreme Master Television team, In the late hours of the night after my arrival at the New Land Ashram on September 26, 2019, I was walking down the stairs of the Shaolin Temple with a sister initiate when suddenly, several dogs rushed down from the hill. Just as they reached the middle of the main courtyard, they met a fellow disciple walking towards the meditation hall. When the dogs stopped, I saw that the dog at the rear was raising his head and his whole body was glowing and encircled with a golden light. He looked so beautiful and agile. It crossed my mind that he must be Master’s guard dog, a Heavenly dog, a Celestial dog. Standing on the stairs, I could already feel their excitement and joy. While feeling happy that Master has these Divine dogs to protect Her, I also felt apologetic because our presence had disrupted their privilege of taking a stroll in the daytime. In the next instance, they were joyously dashing about like golden arrows shooting past our eyes. On the first morning after meditation in the Art Gallery, I casually looked out of the window and saw a very long and strange cloud. Looking at it carefully, I noticed that it was a giant dragon floating in the sky. It had an enormous head and huge eyes, with two puffs of finger-sized clouds streaming from its nostrils. It had a thin mustache with both ends curling upward on the two sides of its face. Its claws, long, huge body and tail were also visible. Above this cloud dragon were several small dragons. That was indeed a fantastic sight. The whole ashram was under the protection of the divine dragons. On the morning of my departure from the New Land Ashram, out of curiosity, I again looked out of the window. To my surprise, I again saw a fantastic scene, which moved me to joyous tears. There was a knight in full armor and a helmet, holding a long halberd and standing next to a horse. Next, I saw marine friends from the ocean. It’s a pity that I recognized so few of them: the seahorse, sea lion, huge sea turtle, crabs, shrimp and a huge fish that I could not identify. During this retreat at the New Land Ashram, every day I could feel the highest blessing and protection from Master and the many Gods. Even on my way downhill, I could feel the blessing from the rocks and tree gods on the roadside. Every day, I felt boundless gratitude to our dearest Master for Her selfless effort in elevating and benefiting all beings in the universe. May the auspicious cloud always be near Master. May all the Gods help Master to accomplish Her mission successfully. I further wish Master to be forever healthy, happy and beautiful! I also thank the wonderful Supreme Master Television for providing the world with a 24/7 broadcast of constructive, positive and beautiful news that elevates people’s body, mind and soul.
