Ray Star (vegan) is a multi-award-winning author and freelance writer from Essex, United Kingdom, with a deep-seated passion for nature, animal-people, and the Earth. Her debut novels, “Earthlings” and “Dominion,” mark the inception of an enchanting young adult fantasy trilogy. These have not only earned multiple accolades but were also Amazon bestsellers across various categories. “I did Veganuary in 2018, and then that was when I realized the animal welfare aspect of veganism and what veganism was, rather than just the health side of things. And that was a game changer for me. I watched the documentary ‘Earthlings.’ I was vegan the next day and have been ever since.”Ms. Star now gives us a brief overview of her book trilogy. “When I went vegan, going vegan for me wasn’t enough. I realized I had to do something else because I wanted to tell the world about all these things that were happening. Only the things that Peridot is fighting in the worlds that I write about in the ‘Earthlings’ trilogy are actual real life world issues. So rather than fighting dragons, or dementors, or anything like that, she’s fighting for freedom for all species. And what’s happening in the world right now to animals every day is actually happening to the humans within the trilogy that I’ve written. Book one is ‘Earthlings,’ book two is ‘Dominion.’ And I'm just finishing the final book in the trilogy, which is ‘Land of Hope and Glory,’ and (it’ll be) out later this year.”Ray Star shares with us the inspiration behind her works. “When the story came to me, why I was so passionate about it was because of how I used to live my life, and I was an animal lover. Because I think one of the best ways to create empathy for other people, for other animals, even for insects, for trees, for any living being on this planet, is to put us in their place.”
