The founders of Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, Aimee Takaha and her husband Andy, reside in Queen Creek, Arizona, and have established a loving residence for rescued animal-persons for more than 11 years. Aimee’s personal journey as a survivor of child abuse from a very young age and its ensuing post-traumatic stress disorder, were the catalyst for the sanctuary’s creation. Aimee always noticed that her PTSD symptoms would ease and release its grip on her life when she turned her attention to receiving the powerful loving energy that animal-people so unconditionally emanate at all times.

Aimee stated that the animal-people have indeed saved her life and adds: “That’s how I recognized the healing. They adore being hugged and cuddled, and seek out the guests for their hugs too!” Along her healing journey, Aimee came to know of distressed animal-people who also had suffered painful ordeals, and decided to return the blessings received by caring for animal-persons who faced their own traumas.

“It hurts my heart to see them come to me with such fear in their eyes and broken bones. But we have a wonderful team of volunteers here and we help these animals trust again, they get a sparkle back in their eyes. And that's everything. When they overcome that.”

Upon hearing about this amazing love, and the dedicated work of Aimee, Andy and all the volunteers at Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Thankfully present the Shining World Compassion Award to Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, and a humble contribution of US$10,000 in loving support of your noble work, with much love and heartfelt gratitude, as well as special thanks to all who have contributed to your effort to save precious animal-people lives. May you, those you care for and all involved, be uplifted and shielded in God’s boundless Grace.”
