In recent months, many mothers have become involved in climate change activism. On May 13, 2023, the day before Mother's Day, a global event called the “Mother’s Rebellion for the Climate” occurred. Organized by the global environmental movement Extinction Rebellion, the Mother’s Rebellion took place in 54 cities across all six continents. The Marches’ motto was, “We will never look away. We will never give up. We will do everything we can.” Their peaceful but sincere rallies touched many hearts.

Another group that has become involved in climate change activism is the Indigenous community. In April 2023, thousands of Indigenous Brazilians marched through the streets of Brasilia, Brazil’s capital, demanding that the government take action against climate change. "So, climate change, it’s not good because it’s affecting everything. It’s making people sick; it’s killing medicine plants; it’s killing the animals. And that’s very bad for us, the Indigenous peoples." Indigenous people are especially concerned about the massive deforestation occurring in the Amazon rainforest, most of which is due to the raising of animal-people livestock.

Joaquin Phoenix (vegan), an Oscar-winning actor, a Shining World Compassion Award Laureate, and a climate change and animal-people rights activist, has participated in many protests. He takes every opportunity to speak out about the urgent need to shift to the vegan lifestyle. In the United Kingdom (UK), he accompanied other activists from Animal Equality, helping them to hang a massive banner from London Bridge that said, “Factory Farming is Destroying Our Planet: Go Vegan.”

In another rally in April 2023, climate-change activists gathered outside Britain’s parliament. One protestor criticized the government for its failure to pay attention to the scientific evidence. “I'm an air quality scientist, and we can see here the air pollution created from this animal agriculture ammonia is creating a spring haze over London. Now, all of this comes from meat and dairy, and fossil fuels. Now, what the governments are not doing is taking either of those two things into account, trying to reduce either of those two things.”

Many climate change activists are encouraging other vegans to join them to raise awareness about the real solution to global warming. “Vegans need to come to these marches in large numbers to bring the message that animal agriculture is a leading cause of climate change.” “We are standing in front of a precipice, and we have no time. The fastest and most impactful thing to do is to go vegan.”
