In today’s news, United Arab Emirates provides rapid relief to earthquake victims in Colombia. New report reveals climate change means more wildfires in Europe, Chinese researchers invent self-repairing mushroom-based textile, UK accelerating efforts to stop animal-folk testing in medical science, US college student saves girls from drowning in lake, Australian beverage company increases vegan coffee offerings nationwide and expands into New Zealand, and community-based programs help animal-people shelter in United States reach no-kill milestone. Here’s a home safety tip. When using a stool or ladder to reach higher places, a few simple safety habits can make a big difference in preventing slips, falls and tip-overs. Before climbing, give the item a quick inspection and check for anything such as cracks, loose screws or other damage that could make it unstable. If you notice a problem, repair it if possible or use a different one. Always set it up on a solid, even surface so it won’t wobble or shift while you are using it. As you climb or work, keep three points of contact on the device whenever possible, either both feet and one hand, or both hands and one foot. This helps you stay balanced and steady when working at a height. Finally, choose closed-toe footwear with non-slip soles to give you good grip and help prevent your feet from slipping on smooth or uneven surfaces.
