In today’s news, United States study finds face masks could save numerous lives from COVID-19, Uganda receives funding for secondary education expansion, consumer demand for clean air vehicles soars in Germany, Indian researchers propose biofuel creation from used personal protective equipment, kind ranger carries overheated dog down mountain, milk purchases drop in Netherlands and Australian government sponsors conservation research on world’s largest green turtle population.

Masks could save tens of thousands of lives from coronavirus.

Modeling by the United States-based University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) has found that if 95% of Americans wore face masks in public starting in early August 2020, then by December 1, 2020, approximately 66,000 lives would be saved. Without this measure, the institute projects nearly 50% more citizens would succumb to COVID-19 by December. IHME Director Dr. Christopher Murray explained that individuals are social distancing and wearing masks as cases increase, but when infection rates drop, people are not as vigilant and stop protecting themselves and others, which leads to more infections. Thank you, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation researchers, for this vital information on mask protection. May we take all necessary steps to safeguard the health of ourselves and others during this challenging time, in God’s mercy.

Ugandan secondary education capacity receives boost.

To benefit Uganda’s disadvantaged areas, including those districts with refugees, the World Bank has approved US$150 million in funding to build 116 new lower secondary schools and add classrooms to 61 existing schools. The Uganda Secondary Education Expansion Project will benefit approximately 2.5 million students by creating 70,300 new spaces for children, furnishing textbooks and teaching manuals, providing teacher professional development support, and instituting an accelerated learning program for youngsters currently not in school. Our gratitude, World Bank, for this significant assistance to the bright Ugandan students. May the young learners all grow up to become respected citizens and compassionate leaders, in the radiance of the Divine.

Up next, consumer demand for clean air vehicles soars in Germany. We’ll take a moment to thank the friendly clerks who run our local convenience stores. We’ll be right back with more thoughtful news on Supreme Master Television.

Good day, gentle viewers, it’s me, your cute Kabba the vegan kookaburra; if you think being vegan makes me attractive, you are so right. Well, it’s your turn to try it. Here is a way to help conserve energy in the kitchen. Refrigerators lose cold air whenever their doors are opened, but contrary to popular belief, the electricity consumed to re-cool the fridge afterwards is actually rather little. That’s because the refrigerator’s coldness is mostly held by its contents, not by the air. So, to really save power, simply avoid putting food in your fridge while it’s still hot. Let it cool down first. Thank you for tuning in, and lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all humans and us all co-inhabitants. Now, the worldwide weather.

German electric vehicle (EV) sales strengthen in 2020.

Global consulting firm Strategy& reports that despite its economy being substantially affected by the pandemic, Germany saw a 26% increase year-on-year in new EV registrations for 2020’s second quarter, with new plug-in hybrid registrations alone up 257% for the period. The upswing is attributed to robust buyer interest in the market segment and large subsidies from the German government for electric car purchases to stimulate the economy and lower CO2 emissions from transportation. The government’s goal is for 10 million EVs to be on the road by 2030 to help the nation reduce its carbon footprint as part of its Climate Action Program. Germany is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion and a Shining World Caring Leadership Award laureate. Our appreciation for sharing these encouraging insights, Strategy&, and kudos, Germany, for supporting clean transport. May our world quickly transition to ever greener ways of living, in Heaven’s delight.

Study finds personal protective equipment (PPE) convertible into biofuel.

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies researchers in Dehradun, India, have unlocked how to convert used PPE into a synthetic fuel. An estimated 200 billion units of single-use masks and gloves have been used monthly since the COVID-19 pandemic’s start, with their disposal highly problematic for the environment. The scientists found that polypropylene-made PPE items, including masks, gloves, gowns, face shields, and goggles, can be altered through a process called pyrolysis that breaks down the material in a thermal reactor at 300 to 400 degrees Celsius and transforms it into liquid fuel. The result can then be used as a biodegradable energy source. Bravo, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies team, for your earth-loving discovery. May you have further success in the exploration of planet-protecting possibilities, in the grace of the Divine.

Park ranger carries heat-exhausted dog to safety.

During a hike on a steep mountain trail in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area in the United States, a 36-kilogram Akita dog suffered from overheating. His tired caregiver couldn’t transport the canine back to his car and rang for help. Supervisory Park Ranger Kris Salapek quickly came to the rescue and lifted the dog onto his shoulders and brought him to a stream to cool down. Next, he continued to carry the canine for about 2.5 kilometers, taking about an hour to reach the vehicle. The Akita was then immediately driven to a veterinarian by his human companion. Luckily, the sweet dog has made a full recovery. Three cheers, Supervisory Park Ranger Kris Salapek, for your heroic deed of saving the precious Akita! May we all strive to keep our beloved animal companions safe, in Celestial goodness.

Coming up, milk purchases fall in Netherlands. We’ll pause now to enjoy some traditional Ahellil poetry and music, a UNESCO-inscribed Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from the Gourara region of southwest Algeria. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more excellent news. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Balanced News for a Stable World.

Milk consumption declines in Netherlands.

Between 2016 and 2019, milk sales in the Netherlands’ supermarkets decreased by 6% according to data from the United States- headquartered market research company IRI. It is thought that the reduction in such purchases is partly due to the increased availability and options in the plant-based milk category, with sales of such products in Dutch supermarkets climbing from €75 million to €100 million from 2015 to 2019. National demand for readymade milk puddings during the timeframe dropped by 25%, and buttermilk by nearly 8%. Currently, one-third of Dutch households have an animal-free dairy product at home. Thank you, IRI, for highlighting the ongoing growth of the vegan milk market in the Netherlands. May the Dutch people quicken their wise trajectory towards a 100% plant-based future, in the Providence’s gentle guidance.

Australia prioritizes green turtle population preservation.

The Australian government, a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion recipient and a Shining World Leadership Awards for High Moral Value and Health Guardian laureate, has initiated the US$4.2 million Green Turtle Research and Protection Program to better safeguard the world’s largest population of the species with 60,000 that nest annually on the Great Barrier Reef’s beaches. Warming sand temperatures are causing more females than males to hatch, thus threatening the reptiles’ future. To find solutions, the program’s research components include mapping nesting sites by air, tracking adult male green turtles’ feeding patterns by satellite and testing techniques to cool the nesting beaches to create a normal ratio of female to male hatchlings. Our applause, the Australian government, for your caring project to help nurture the beloved green turtles. May your work lead to more effective methods to ensure a healthy and flourishing population of our lovely green turtle friends, in Heaven’s abundant love.

Let us brighten up your day with a good joke entitled “Little Problems.”

An elementary school had just installed a new air-conditioning system, and a representative from the company wanted to make sure it was running smoothly. Poking his head into an empty classroom, he asked the teacher:

“Any little problems here?”

“No. All our little problems have gone home.”

And now we have a heartline from Phương Trang and Bình Dương in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam:

Dearest Supreme Master Ching Hai! Dear Supreme Master Television team!

We are Phương Trang and Bình Dương, middle-school students from Âu Lạc (Vietnam). Five years ago, our mother and we always got sick, having to be admitted to the hospital often. During those times, my mom often wished that people didn’t get sick! And then, her wish came true when she learned about the vegan diet and the perfect teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai! Four years ago, my mother went to the hospital to remove her gallbladder, and she was determined to be vegan despite the pressure from doctors and relatives who advised her to eat meat. Amazingly, my mother healed quickly and was discharged from the hospital early. Since then, my mother has been healthy.

My mother said to us: “I apologize for not being educated to know about veganism, and I didn’t teach you much about what is the right thing to do. Now that I know [what is right], and if I don’t help you to keep being vegan, then I would be at fault!” She then did everything to bring us the best things possible, such as cooking delicious vegan food, reading spiritual books to us, turning on Supreme Master Television, and guiding us to a new way of life to love others, including the animals.

We are so grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai, who gave our mother and us a new life. We promise to be vegan to keep the best things in our life. We pray to You to bless our father to be vegan also so that our whole family can be healthy! We wish You great health and the TV channel to become better every day. Phương Trang and Bình Dương from Âu Lạc (Vietnam)

Fortunate Phương Trang and Bình Dương, It was wonderful to read the story about your dear mother. We are so pleased to hear that she has adopted a noble way of living and passed on this precious knowledge, and Master’s teachings, to her children. You are blessed indeed to have such a noble parent. We pray for the continued good health of your whole family. May the brilliant blessings of the Divine be with you and the kind people of Âu Lạc (Vietnam), Supreme Master TV team

P.S. Master said: “Sweethearts Phương Trang and Bình Dương, when we choose vegan, we choose the path of love and saving the world through it. I am happy that you both are following the heroic and compassionate way. Perhaps show your father some Supreme Master Television programs on why being plant-based is our world’s future. It is vital we now change and preserve all animal and human life. Big love to you and all the warm people of Âu Lạc (Vietnam).”

We welcome your heartlines, stories and or cute, loving animal clips. Please send them via SupremeMasterTV.com/heartline
