The Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh, and the ancient writings of the Talmud, embody the beliefs and practices of Judaism. The Holy Tanakh Book of Devarim, or Deuteronomy, is also part of the Holy Torah, as it is the fifth book written by the Prophet Moses.

Chapter 31 “So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel. And he gave Joshua, the son of Nun, a charge, and said: ‘Be strong and of good courage; for thou shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore unto them; and I will be with thee’

And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: ‘Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call Heaven and Earth to witness against them. For I know that after my death ye will in any wise deal corruptly, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the end of days; because ye will do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him through the work of your hands.’”

Chapter 32 “For I will proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe ye greatness unto our God. The Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice; A God of faithfulness and without iniquity. Just and right is He. Is corruption His? No; His children’s is, the blemish; A generation crooked and perverse. Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? Is not He thy father that has gotten thee? Has He not made thee, and established thee?”
