Singapore Botanic Gardens has emerged as the first, and essentially the only, tropical botanic garden on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Tucked in the heart of the city, the more than 150-year-old gardens were originally designed as an English pleasure garden. The romantic nature of the Gardens is preserved in its historic buildings and diverse display of delicate, lush plants. It has played a key role in past and present agriculture, science, and conservation around the world, holding "Outstanding Universal Value".
