United Arab Emirates (UAE) provides humanitarian aid to Ethiopia.
The UAE has pledged US$85 million in relief for drought-affected people in the Horn of Africa that is to be delivered through several international agencies. The partners include the International Committee of the Red Cross, World Food Programme, United Nations Children’s Fund and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State of the UAE, expressed his country’s commitment, saying, “The UAE attaches great importance to the stability of the Horn of Africa. The impact of climate change on the region has intensified the humanitarian situation.” The United Arab Emirates is a recipient of the Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance, and a laureate of Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace, Environment Protection, Protection, and Compassion. Study finds bird-people undergoing physical and behavioral changes in part due to global warming.
A recent paper from scientists from the Australian National University (ANU), Australia, and other institutions, examined the climate crisis’s impacts on over 60 bird-person species in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The researchers looked at data going back to the 1960s on the timing of the bird-people laying their eggs, the avian-people’s body condition and the number of offspring produced. The analysis showed that the majority of bird-people were laying their eggs earlier and about a third had undergone changes in body size or the number of offspring. The scientists determined that global warming is responsible for 57% of the overall changes in the bird-people studied over the past decades. US university transitions to fully green power.
Stanford University, in the United States, recently switched on a 63-megawatt solar generating station, making the institution fully powered by renewable energy. The achievement is part of the university’s goal to be net carbon neutral by 2050. Other measures are being taken to conserve electricity, including increasing the energy efficiency of the university’s buildings. The institution is also working to achieve zero waste by 2030 and last year became the first US university or college to issue bonds that have certain climate and sustainability designations for financing the construction and renovation of campus buildings. Way to go, Stanford University, for your proactive projects to reduce the environmental footprint of your esteemed institution. World Health Organization (WHO) center for Traditional Medicine to be established in India.
In an agreement between the WHO and the host country India, the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) will be located in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The nation will contribute US$250 million to the facility. GCTM will also assist WHO member nations with policy development for alternative healing modalities. India is a recipient of two Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Shining World Leadership Awards for Environmental Protection and Good Governance; as well as a laureate of three Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, three Shining World Leadership Awards for Justice, two Shining World Leadership Awards for Peace, and Shining World Leadership Awards for Good Governance and Protection. Teen artist uses talent to support Ukraine.
Fourteen-year-old Ella Bramlett of Nashville, Tennessee, United States, has been painting for much of her life. She often paints while sitting and watching TV, and that is what she was doing when she first learned about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So, she began to paint watercolors of Ukrainian cities: beautiful landscapes as they were before the recent events. The caring young artist started with Kyiv and Kharkiv and then painted Mariupol and several others. Ella offers prints of her works for sale and donates 100% of the income to charities that help Ukrainians. She has already raised US$1,500 with plans to keep her initiative going. The kind artist described her motivation saying, “We’re all God’s children. And so we should all do what we can to help.” Our hearts are warmed, Ella Bramlett! May you continue to show love and care for Ukraine through your lovely paintings, in Divine goodness. French entrepreneur restores abandoned Spanish village and creates vegan paradise.
In August 2017, Pascale Claude Monique Huguette, a French businesswoman, fell in love with a charming village in Ourol, Galicia, in the north of Spain that had been abandoned for 30 years and decided to revive it. Ms. Huguette and her rescued 13 greyhound-people have been living on the 12-hectare property while rehabilitating it. O Viso Ecovillage, which delighted guests are now enjoying, has seven buildings, 11 apartments, five rooms and common areas such as social lounges, a swimming pool, a vegan restaurant, and is a quick 15 minutes away from the beach. This vegan village is also animal-person companion friendly, sustainable and offers a tranquil getaway from busy city life. Congratulations on establishing this amazing village, Pascale Claude Monique Huguette. We’ve already added it to our bucket list! All the best to you and your greyhound-person buddies. New luxury cat-person hotel opened in Singapore.
Cat-people rescuer Brenda Wang, an interior design contractor, opened The Luxe Meownor, for rescued feline-people and those needing a comfortable place to stay while their caregivers are out of town. All of the 13 spacious rooms were designed with marvelous cat-people furniture, while the gorgeous feline-persons are taken care of by staff and volunteers. Brenda has a diploma in feline-people psychology and believes that behind every happy and healthy cat-person, there’s a great caregiver. Ms. Wang also runs the private Facebook group “Cats & Kittens of Singapore,” with more than 14,000 members and a team of 40 volunteer rescuers. Bravo, Brenda Wang and volunteers, for your excellent work to help the beautiful cat-people of Singapore and congratulations on The Luxe Meownor’s opening.
