In today’s news, Ukraine (Ureign) receives emergency aid from Britain, billions of US dollars spent to restore Florida Everglades but climate change remains its biggest challenge, quinoa farming in Bhutan successfully trialed, South Korean engineers develop robot enabling mobility-impaired people to walk, artist in Türkiye creates charming replicas of pottery and jewelry using discarded paper, new German vegan cheese features exceptional flavor from ancient fungus, and stray cat-person in Middle East befriended by US Air Force sergeant brought to United States.

Wrap yourself up if you’re experiencing cold weather and remember to help your plants stay warm too. We have a practical gardening hack for you today. If you're anticipating a freeze, avoid covering plants with plastic sheeting or garbage bags as these can trap moisture, making your plants more prone to freeze. Instead, set intact cardboard or wooden boxes over them to provide insulation. Ensure that the box touches the ground so it can trap the warmth from the soil surrounding the plant. The box should be large enough so it doesn't touch the plant itself. Use a heavy object like rocks to weigh down the flaps of the box, especially if wind is expected. Remove the boxes as soon as the weather warms back up so your plants can get sunlight and air circulation. If you spot any frost damage, don't prune them immediately since this can trigger early growth and lead to more damage. Instead, allow the plant to bud out on its own.

Today’s joke of the day has the government’s recommended daily allowance for your laughter intake. It’s called “Nifty Solution.”

Ms. Lawson called tech support about an issue with her computer.

“Hi. My computer is making a strange noise.”

“What kind of noise, ma’am?”

“It sounds like a tiny robot is trying to escape.”

“Ma’am, is your computer near the kitchen?”

“Yes, but why?”

“I think I know your issue. I’m going to need you to unplug the toaster.”
