Dear Beloved Master and Supreme Master TV team, Recently, Newshub NZ, the 3rd biggest media company in New Zealand, announced its decision to close all its news platforms in July this year due to its financial difficulties in sustaining its news business, which will lead to more than 300 staff losing their jobs. Meanwhile, other mainstream media companies are also facing decline in their businesses in the last few years. They have now announced downsizing their number of staff.
According to the surveys conducted by various research groups in different countries, the factors resulting in the shrinkage of the mass media business are complex, but the trust in the mainstream media has slumped substantially and the public has shifted their preference from mainstream media to social media platforms. Half of Americans believe that national news organizations deliberately mislead them, while another survey done in Australia in 2018 showed that Australians’ trust in media was at a record low as “fake news” fears grew.
This distrust of mass media is worldwide. “The general trust in the government has declined…” says Auckland University of Technology’s research center for Journalism, Media and Democracy’s Dr. Merja Myllylahti, as well as “The researchers [of the research center] also found misinformation and disinformation were contributing factors to a lack of trust in media,” as reported by the Stuff news website.
In the UK, a survey also shows public trust in social media has dropped as well. What is happening right now just echoes Master’s insightful warning in a previous conference with the Supreme Master TV team in 2020, in which Master warned the media would lose its trust if they won’t report truthfully. “And people will also distrust the media, the mainstream media. That’s what I worry about. (Yes, Master.) I just hope not. But it’s too obvious. It’s too obvious. If the justice system doesn’t work, then people don’t trust it. (Yes, Master.) If the media do not report the truth, just report fake news and bias articles, then people don’t trust the media. (Yes, Master, understood.) It is very simple as that. (Yeah, understood.)”
Credibility is the fundamental element for any system in this world run by money. Without credibility, any business could not go on for long. I hope the mass media and all businesses put the interests of the public as their priority and report and do their part honestly, transparently without bias.
