In Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association Relief News from Taiwan (Formosa)…
On April 3, 2024, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the central east coast of Taiwan (Formosa) causing tremors that were felt throughout the entire island. It was the strongest quake to hit the island in 25 years. At least 16 people lost their lives and over 1,100 were injured, while hundreds were stranded due to road obstruction from landslides. More than 20 buildings were destroyed, with numerous structures that were also damaged.
Upon learning of this devastating event, our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) requested: “Please arrange with accountants to give US$12,000 for the most in need victims. If need more, please advise. All my love and prayers for all afflicted to soon return to normalcy. Love in Godgrace.”
Our Association members initially provided comfort and prayed together with those who were awaiting the rescue of loved ones trapped inside an eight-story building that had collapsed during the earthquake. Thankfully, the quake victims were soon safely evacuated by the local Fire Department. Our Association members now continue relief efforts as they also closely monitor the landslide situation in Chongde Village, Xiulin Township of Hualien County.
Our Taiwanese (Formosan) Association members wrote to Master: “Relief teams are still engaged in relief efforts; we hope to bring Master’s Love to the victims. With profound reverence, we acknowledge that Master has graciously bestowed abundant blessings upon Taiwan (Formosa), thereby greatly alleviating numerous disasters. We also hope humanity awakens soon to the importance of adopting a vegan diet, to save ourselves and our precious planet. We are very grateful for Master’s Blessings and Protection!”
We, too, deeply appreciate Master’s attentive Care for the earthquake victims in need. Our thanks also go to our Association members for their relief efforts, and to all others who are working to help the quake-afflicted. May all the Taiwanese (Formosan) residents impacted by the earthquake quickly return to their normal lives, in Buddha’s everlasting love and protection.
