In East Texas, 22 families in a small African-American community came together to adopt 77 children in the foster care system. These children have serious behavioral issues and unspeakable childhood traumas. Their daily struggles are very difficult to overcome. Will the families be able to unite and help each other cope with their emotional challenges through their profound spiritual faith and love?

This heartwarming film, “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot,” is an inspiring depiction of a close-knit African-American community in East Texas. Pastor W.C. Martin and his wife, First Lady Donna, lead their congregation while raising their two children, LaDonna and Princeton. Shortly after, Donna and WC adopt siblings – seven-year-old Mercedes and three-year-old Tyler. Despite the challenges, WC steadfastly believes love and care are exactly what these children need. The next day, Pastor WC delivers a heartfelt sermon that inspires 22 families to step forward and open their homes to adoption. They request the most challenging cases and learn about Terri, a troubled teen with behavioral issues that make her difficult to place.

Yet, he reminds them that faith can lighten burdens, especially when shared as a community.
